Happy Republic Day India :)

hit-or-miss:

The land of historians, poets, riches and rivers,
Things that I was taught in school but now I dont remember,
The tricolour and the meaning of each line of the chakra and its symbol,
Kings and sons with numerous queens and monuments that talk about love rekindle.
Land where bollywood is not an influence of the culture instead is an ‘influent’,
And where people fight and argue with anybody on the street, but not with the government.

It is the land of Boom Shankar for some and for some its source of cheap shopping,
Where life goes on no matter who dies, even if there be floods or earthquakes,
Because it is the land of Gods, where ALL IS WELL, and good hope survives,
Where things are slowly changing- they now carry guns instead of knives!

My land is so much more than just one of corruption and poverty,
It is a place that has a ‘Heart’, which is its true Unique Identity,
For in this heartless, fast-paced fake world, its okay to be a little slow,
For the turtle always wins the race, and not all diamonds have to glow!

Its a land I call my ‘own’, and all the true love lies in its ‘dirt’,
For India taught me to ‘love’ and ‘respect’,and is My ‘Mother’ earth!

“Life will break you.Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either. For solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.” ~ Louise Erdrich (The Painted Drum) (via gatekeeper)

Weather Geeks Champion New Armageddon-Worthy Cloud
In hill country from Iowa to the Scottish Highlands, sky-gazers have reported some strange, ominous-looking clouds of late. Dubbed undulatus asperatus (turbulent undulation), the atmospheric anomaly could be headed where only 80-odd clouds have gone before: into the International Cloud Atlas. If it makes the cut, asperatus will be the first new addition in more than 50 years.

This is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time.

“…Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Ahh! found it at last!

“When you’re young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then, you grow up and learn to be cautious. You could break a bone or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don’t leap at all because there’s not always someone there to catch you. And in life, there’s no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?” Sex and the City (via kari-shma) (via quote-book)

“Become a possibilitarian. No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see possibilities — always see them, for they’re always there.” Norman Vincent Peale (via julie911) (via quote-book)

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” Kris Nair (via gurupanguji)

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”

St. Augustine (via borgomani) (via quote-book)

“This is exactly what I wanted, as commitments had never really been my thing. And it wasn’t like it was hard, either. The only trick was never giving more than you were willing to lose.” ~ Sarah Dessen (via gatekeeper)
